THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS OF WORKING WITH THE ARTS or CREATIVITY: An Arts Therapy Experience

With Helen Edwards

20th April 2008

“The images are what really count, and they get so little place in our world, so my job is to let them speak and to speak with them” ( James Hillman; InterViews,1983, p.52)

There are many ways in which attending to the process of creating images as well as working with image and metaphor, may add further dimensions to our engagement in our process and relationship.

Helen has explored and developed her own understanding of the different ways in which working with creativity and images make visible therapeutic processes looking through different theoretical lens in developing an integrative framework (including an Integrative Psychotherapy framework for her work).   She invites you to bring your creative selves and reflections on your own developing frameworks for the work that you do.

Helen Edwards is a UKCP Registered Integrative Arts Psychotherapist who has been working in Private Practice and in a Voluntary capacity with individuals for the past 8 years, having graduated from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education.   Helen has worked in mental health and palliative care settings and also works with creative art groups for children and adults.
